I am pleased to announce that three Prairie High School students placed in the 2020 Nell Propst Historical Essay and Art contest. Winners were announced last week.
"Participation in the History Contest requires that students submit a written thesis on local history as specified in the contest rules below. Thesis topics are limited to an individual, group of individuals, historic place, or an event affecting and occurring within the geographical area of Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma Counties in northeast Colorado.
All entries submitted for final judging will be included in a bound book. Copies of this book will be given to each entrant, their school library and the Sterling Overland Trail Museum." There is also an art contest available to students where students submit photographs or art pieces depicting eastern Colorado. The first place winner's art is the cover for this year's book.
ELI MARLER was the FIRST PLACE winner in this year's essay division with his essay titled, "MUSICAL REVERBERATIONS: GLENN MILLER’S BOYHOOD HOME. Eli will receive a $3,000 scholarship. Sailor Green Becker was the 3rd place essay winner with her essay titled, SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW...BRIDGE. Sailor will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
MaKayla Baker won 2nd place in the art contest and will receive a $750 scholarship.
Congratulations to these students! These are very prestigious awards chosen from many applicants.

Update from Weld County Fair Board, "4-H and FFA members enrolling in any market and/or breeding livestock or small animal projects for the first time regardless of age, must attend a Colorado Meat Quality Assurance (MQA) program." If you would like more information, please reach out to Mrs. Larson.

On Friday, chapter members, some parents, and Mrs. Larson were able to get together to help cleanup the New Raymer and Stoneham cemeteries in honor of Memorial Weekend! 😁 Thank you to everyone who participated in helping give back to our community!

Good morning all,
I received an email yesterday about the State FFA Convention, they will be holding a virtual conference the second week of July. Depending on how they present it and the health department rules, I am hoping to hold a "watch party" and we could all do this at the school or students can do it at home. Not sure what that will look like, but I promise to keep you posted as things progress. Thank you for your patience and grace as well figure all of this out.
Happy Summer, Mrs. Larson
