Today we are sharing about one of our freshman Wyatt Butler. We have included a few pictures about his SAE and what he does in his spare time that keeps him involved in Agriculture. Of all of the extra things Wyatt does, he decided to develop his lathe work into a small business. Wyatt is doing well turning on the Lathe. He makes pens, wine stoppers and Christmas ornaments. Here is a link to watch Wyatt in action: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_F4pEPmxYvhAClKCdBPLZG8PL0r9lOXA?usp=sharing. Included is a picture of Wyatt‘s Mule deer buck, his antelope and pigs that were raised and butchered at home with his family. They also cite the bacon and hams. We butcher our animals to include the ones that we hunt by ourselves. Wyatt actually knows how to do it without any help. Lastly, Wyatt helped install a wood stove for the woodshop. Dad has him up on the roof installing the chimney. Great job Wyatt!!

Colorado Children's Book Award winners and nominees are the books students are reading for this year's book challenge. 1st and 2nd graders need to read seven picture books and do a worksheet for each book read. Their teachers have the worksheets. There is a list of books for them to select to read. The 3rd-12th grades need to read four fiction (chapter) books in their reading level, take and pass an AR quiz and do one activity for each book. More information is on the Prairie Library page on the website under the Menu tab.

The theme for library this year has been featuring children authors who have birthdays each month. Books are displayed for students to check out. The bulletin board theme for January is "Wrap Your Mittens Around an Author". Here are a few authors for this month: Tedd Arnold, Janet Stevens, Shannon Hale and Bill Peet. This month we also have winter related books in one display.

Thank you 5th grade parents for helping us reach our goal! The 5th graders donated 752 items including letters and cards. My students were not bashful when it came to send parents and Mrs. Long to the store for more items. What a great cause! Students celebrated with pizza/ice cream/song, and dance party with the seniors.
