Dear Junior High Football Players and Parents, The football season is right around the corner. It is definitely going to be an exciting and fun season at Prairie School. Through the sport of football, there are so many life lessons to be learned along with the skills necessary to play the game properly. This season we are expecting to suit up a team of around 12 players! With only 55 minutes available in the last hour of school for practice and our first game being September 2nd, I feel it is vital that we spend some time preparing before school starts. I want to go over proper techniques for safety purposes, terminology, and get a jump start on our fitness to help avoid injuries. When thinking about preventing injuries, you can start today by working on your fitness. Here are some ideas of what you can do now to help yourself have a more successful and injury free season. • Always start your workout by warming up properly; jumping jacks, karaoke, a short one minute jog, and STRETCHES. • 30 lunges • 1 mile run • 20+ pushups • 30+ sit-ups • Planks, box jumps, jump ropes, bicycle ride, swimming, play basketball • STRETCH….. COOL DOWN BEFORE OUR FIRST PRACTICE, there is some paperwork that needs to be filled out and ready to turn into the office. These forms will be available at the front office or on the Prairie School website ASAP. You will need to find the Parent/Guardian Information Form, Doctor Physical Examination Form, Risk of Injury Form (Warning to Student and Parents), and Illegal Substance Abuse Agreement Form. The equipment that you will need to bring to the first day of practice; football cleats, shorts, t-shirt, water bottle, mosquito spray, sunscreen, and a breakfast bar to eat during our break. Monday, August 7th ……. 7:00am (sharp on the field) – 10:00am (We will start handing out uniforms on this day) Tuesday, August 8th ………….7:00am - 10:00am Wednesday, August 9th ………7:00am – 10:00am Thursday, August 10th………7:00am – 10:00am Monday, August 14th…First Day of School ** Also, I feel it is important to get as much practice in as possible before our first game that will be the end of the third week of school. Therefore, we will start our Tuesday after school practices right away on the 15th. This practice will last until 5:00pm. These are not mandatory, but hopefully as many as possible can attend. The Chadron State Eagles 6-man/8-man football camp was simply amazing. The coaching administration there goes above and beyond. I can say with confidence that each player had an experience they will not forget. Thank you parents for allowing your boys to attend and trusting us coaches to watch after them. After 2 1/2 days of solid football, they are going to be sore for a day or two, but it was well worth it. All of them returned home healthy and in one piece. Thank you to those that made the camp possible. The skills we learned and the confidence gained will without a doubt carry over into the upcoming season. Coach Ramseier & Coach Bailey

Football honors: All Conference Honorable Mention, All Conference (2x), All Conference most votes, All State 2nd team Thoughts on playing in the All State game: I am super excited because I’ve always looked up to my brother and he made this game. I knew I had to try to be better than him so I’m excited because it’s the best players in 6-man Colorado. Most memorable football moment: My senior homecoming game vs Branson/Kim. It was very close throughout. We almost lost, but in the last seconds we scored a touchdown to win the game! I’ll never forget that.

Congrats to these nine 3rd graders who earned the 50 states award this year. They learned the location of all 50 states and earned a special plaque. I'm proud of their hard work to achieve this goal! ❤️🇺🇸 💙

Prairie Mustangs Shine ☀️ Today our Prairie Elementary has something to brag about, our school has received the "John Irwin Award" which is given to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement on the school performance framework. These schools “exceed” expectations on the indicator for academic achievement over three years. 310 schools were honored, 182 schools earned this award (1,800+ schools in our state). Pretty big deal!
