FIFTH GRADE NEWS

Third Quarter 2021-2022

Farewell to the third quarter! We are excited to start the fourth quarter in the 5th grade. Students worked on so many projects as teams and as individuals...always learning and becoming better. Kids wrote informational reports on various famous scientists and read them aloud to their peers. Students went through the writing process adding peer review as one of the very final steps in order to better their papers. The 6th graders visited our room and watched our presentations; the students provided us with positive feedback.

My students did a wonderful job reading their essays in class. One of my most favorite writing projects in writing Fables...it is pretty fascinating to learn what morals the students want to teach others.

Science plays a big part in the students' fifth grade life. Students were tasked to research the depletion of coal and a possible viable resource replacement option that would then present to the city council (Mrs. Long and Mr. Moe) in a form of an oral presentation. The students became City Utility Engineers and answered tough questions from the audience members.

Colonial Fair Trade Social Studies Project: My students research the way of life in Colonial America and were divided into three groups. Their task was to be persuasive and get as many people to colonize their territories. We are thankful for Mr. Adam and is 7th and 8th grade class for coming, Ms. Brendee and her 6th graders, Mrs. Sarah Chase, Mr. Hove, Mrs. Pollart, and Mrs. Boydston for participating as an audience, asking questions, and challenging my class. The majority of the guests decided to living in the Southern Colonies.
