6th, 7th, 8th Grade Keyboarding

 

6th Grade Keyboarding:

The 6th graders have keyboarding once a week. The main focus of this class was for the students to become proficient in typing, and to learn some basic technology skills. Now they will be able to learn more advanced technology skills and incorporate more technology in other subjects. Here are the skills that were learned in this class:

  • To log on, open the MS Office Word 07 program, and to save in multiple storage areas

  • To type all the letters on the keyboard by touch

  • To recognize and know what different proofreader’s marks represent

  • Learned to proofread for their own errors

  • Learned correct spacing when using different types of punctuation

  • Practiced using the number row at the top of the keyboard

  • To open MS Office PowerPoint and create a PowerPoint Presentation

  • Learned about Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety

 

7th Grade Keyboarding:

The 7th graders have keyboarding once a week. Some of the skills they learned:

  • Reviewed how to type all the letters on the keyboard by touch

  • Practiced typing business and personal business letters

  • Practiced typing a report

  • Introduced to MS Office PowerPoint, and learned to create a PowerPoint Presentation

  • Learned about Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety

 

8th Grade Keyboarding:

The 8th graders have keyboarding twice a week. Some of the skills they learned:

  • Reviewed all the letters and top row numbers of the keyboard

  • Learned to create and format tables

  • Practiced typing Personal business letters

  • Learned how to create different documents in Word including a flyer, an announcement, a newsletter, etc.

  • Practiced creating PowerPoint Presentations and learned of additional tools available to format these presentations.

  • Learned new tools available in Word to use when creating different documents

  • Learned about Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety
