May 14, 2018:

It is hard to believe this school year has already come down to the final week! It has flown by so fast. It feels like this ride just began.

I want to congratulate Makayla Baker for qualifying for State Track this year in multiple events! We all wish you good luck this week, Makayla!!!

In addition, congratulations to Atavia Price for being selected to sing the National Anthem this Thursday before the start of State Track  competition!

***Tonight there will be a Summer football meeting at 6:00 PM. Coach Kerns will be here to discus the summer schedule, camp information, and all that will be needed from the athletes during summer time.***

I also want to take the opportunity to thank all of the families for all of the continued support, dedication, and loyalty to Prairie Athletics. Throughout the past two years, I have grown to know many of you very well, and spent tons of time with your children. Every single one of them holds a very dear place in my heart. Serving as your AD has been a joy and a privilege, and truly my favorite job I have ever had in an educational system. I have been teaching/coaching for ten years, and these past two have been beyond my most memorable. I have learned more from your children than they could've ever learned from me. They are all such genuine, kind, and caring souls. These kids have taught me so much about what it means to accept others, respect everyone who crosses your path, what hard work and dedication truly mean, and they have personified pride, commitment, and team work. Every day I prepare to come to work, I look forward to the times throughout the day I get to interact with all of them. There isn't anything that could replace it. Thank you all for having such wonderful kids, and for being so supportive of our programs. It's been a great couple of years, and "thank you" just isn't enough to describe the gratitude I feel.

Have a great week, and as always, GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!

MARCH 5, 2018:

I can't believe we are into the month of March already! After just barely a week off from high school basketball, we are well into our Spring seasons. But first, just a reminder, the Winter Sports banquet will be Friday evening, March 16 at 6:00 pm. Please mark your calendars. The flyer is posted at the bottom of this page.

Baseball practice officially began last Thursday, and Track begins today. If you have an athlete who has not turned in their physicals/athletic registration paperwork, please make sure that gets to me ASAP. They are not allowed to participate in practice until all paperwork has been completed and turned in to me. The most important document I need on file to allow participation is the updated physical form. Junior high parents, if you have an athlete who plans to compete in track, but did not compete in other sports previously, please be sure to have their physicals in to me before the first meet date.

  • Our first High school track meet will be on Saturday, March 17, in Brush (Start time TBA)

  • Our first High school baseball games will be on Monday, March 19, at Otis (1:00 pm)

  • Our first JH track meet will be on Wednesday, March 21, in Sterling (9:00 am)

This year, we have 8 double header baseball games scheduled, with the potential of adding one more. 5 of these are home games, so I am looking forward to building our home town crowd and seeing lots of you there!
There are 10 high school track meets scheduled, and 7 Junior High Track meets. Many of these are "local", in the sense they are within an hour or so away, and it is always great to have families there to support our athletes! :-)

This year's North Central League meet will be on Wednesday, May 2nd. If you're interested in helping with the operation of the meet's events, please email me so I can add you to the list.

Thank you for all you do in the on and off seasons! Pretty soon we will be in the thick of games and meets, and I look forward to seeing everyone there! Schedules will be sent this evening. Go Mustangs! -

FEBRUARY 18, 2018: DISTRICTS WEEK!!!

It's Districts week 2018! Congrats to our boys basketball team for finishing in a tie for 2nd place in the overall League standings, and to our girls for finishing 3rd! The regular seasons were great, and from beginning to end, so much was learned, accomplished, and there was an immense amount of growth! Thank you to our coaches for all of your dedication and commitment to our teams!

Seeding for the District tournament follows a protocol.I know many of you have questions, so I want to explain this as best I can :-)
Caliche, Heritage Christian, and Longmont Christian enter into the tournament based on their RPI calculations that were officially complete and utilized as of Sunday morning. They are inserted between our league finish standings where they fall above or below all of us in RPI. PLEASE READ!!!    August 24, 2017

I want to thank everyone for being understanding during the time it has taken to get all of our schedules corrected. During the past two weeks, we have had multiple teams drop out of 6-man football. This creates an extreme snowball effect upon everyone's schedules in our area. I have met with our League ADs and we have devised schedule adjustments around all of the changes we have been faced with.

As of yesterday, Pawnee does not have a football team for the 2017 season. Therefore, please be advised of the schedule adjustments listed below. In addition, ALL SPORTS do have some changes. All of the adjustments are listed below. I have also attached all of the new versions of our schedules.

Again, THANK YOU so much for your understanding and flexibility during this time. While I realize not every situation is ideal, it is what could be worked out for this Fall Season as a result of so many changes not within our control. I am looking forward to cheering for our kids this Fall, and I am excited to see everyone supporting all of our teams throughout all seasons! It is going to be a great year!

Weekly Update: August 21, 2017

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

It has been great seeing all of the mustangs over the past week, getting back into the swing of school and working hard at practices! Each week, I will send everyone a "weekly update" email. These emails will include game dates, leave times and locations, and any modifications to schedules. Occasionally, emails may come from me mid-week in the event of any last minute changes to schedules. Please keep in mind all schedules are tentative, and remember to be flexible :-)

I am very happy to announce the addition of a JV Football schedule! Please be sure to make note of these added game dates to your calendars!

This Fall season, we have already made quite a few adjustments. All of the dates have been altered on the schedules, and new copies are posted below. The only exception here is Junior High Sports. I am meeting with the league tomorrow to make some adjustments, so those schedules will be sent separately.

For future reference, be advised of the tentative planned Homecoming date of September 15, week #3 vs. Pawnee. If this changes, I will send an email.
In addition, our annual Pink Out! Night will be on Friday, October 6.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
