9th/10th grade Earth Science

Textbook: Earth Science

Authors: Allison, DeGaetano, Pasachoff

Publisher: Holt McDougal

Overview: This year we will study the earth’s composition and history. Students will learn about minerals, rocks, plate tectonics, volcanoes, and earthquakes. Next we will study the earth’s crust, soil, and soil erosion moving on to the atmosphere, weather, climates, and oceans. Finally we will study space, planets, stars, galaxies, and solar systems.

Laboratory experiments will be performed throughout the course to give the students hands on learning tools. Labs will focus on making observations, graphing, modeling, and measuring different systems. Lab write ups will help students more thoroughly understand and apply the information from experiments.
